Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Clinical Scholar Nurse.

What We Do
There has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. What You’ll Do
- Determine clinical and learning needs of mentee in collaboration with the Manager/Director; complete learning needs assessments of individuals or groups to determine requirements and objectives.
- Develop and revise the orientation/mentorship program in collaboration with other team members, based on clinical evidence, policy (e.g. clinical decision support tools), literature and resources, and adult education theory.
- Create supportive and interprofessional learning environments; utilizes adult pedagogy principles to build strong professional relationships with learners to facilitate open communication.
- Deliver learner-centered mentorship/coaching to individual or groups through methods such as conducting formal presentations, mentoring, coaching, facilitating groups, demonstrating, providing lectures, role modeling, and providing point-of-care orientation and on-the-spot teaching.
- Evaluate program effectiveness by measuring the outcomes, determining whether the clinical objectives have been achieved, and assessing whether learning has occurred that results in the demonstration of best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities by methods such as evaluating effects of changes in practice, generating recommendations for alternative approaches to practices, conducting safety audits, and implement teaching/learning when required.
- Assess, document and share clinical skills and performance outcomes, provide related input, and coaching of mentees to help them achieve established clinical performance goals.
What Your Bring
- Baccalaureate, Nursing Sciences (BSN, BScN)
- Master of Nursing preferred
- Registered in Good Standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, ECTAS, ENPC, TNCC
- Advanced Health Assessment, NVCI preferred
- 3-5 years of direct nursing experience as an RN at a Coastal Site (MHC, Fort Albany, Attawapiskat)
- Proven experience with preceptorship and adult learning principles
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and remote health care delivery
- Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset

Salary: $77,688.00 - $111,364.50

Compensation
$39.84 - $57.11 per hour
