Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is looking for experienced professionals to fill the key role of Disability Case Specialist.

What We Do
There has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. As a health authority, you will work in a unique setting where you have the opportunity to care for patients in all phases of their life journey, in all areas of their health experience. From Primary, Acute, and Mental Health, Dental, Specialty Clinics, Population Health and the WAHA Paramedic Service, the opportunities for growth are boundless. We provide community-based programming in all six of our communities, have six paramedic bases, three hospitals, four emergency departments, one community health centre and a total of 72 beds. Who You Are
  • Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Strong knowledge of privacy legislation
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and/or HRIS is preferred
  • May participate in occasional site visits in coastal communities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment

What You’ll Do
  • Work in collaboration with Manager, People Safety & Wellbeing, Occupational Health Nurse and Human Resources staff to support disability management processes including application for benefits, assisting with management of short and long term disability leaves, return to work planning, WSIB claims processes to report occupational injuries and liaising with external partners as appropriate
  • Review, assess and adjudicate short term disability claims.
  • Assist with attendance management/absence reporting including generating attendance reports andstatistics, and assisting with corporate statistical reports
  • Support the Joint Occupational Health and Safety program, and workplace wellness strategy
  • Provide ergonomic/environmental assessments as required
 
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
  • Post secondary education in disability management or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years experience working in a Human Resource, Occupational Health, Disability Management type role
  • Experience working in acute care settings is an asset
  • Occupational Health and Safety experience is an asset
  • Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset

Salary: $80,203.50 - $98,280.00

$41.13 - $50.40 per hour
